Project Description

We're creating an interactive map using Google APIs that details heritage data and photos. Also in the works is a timeline that shows photos and description of historic maps of the Fremantle Townsite.

Data Story

We created a timeline and an interactive website with a map of Fremantle heritage sites, pulled from a database with the list of heritage sites state wide from the State Heritage Office dataset, narrowed down to Fremantle. the markers provide a link to more information on the site when clicked. The timeline features Fremantle at different periods of time, with images pulled from the Digital Photographic Collection dataset and the Fremantle Town Plans dataset.

The City of Fremantle is known for its unique heritage and as one of the most visited destinations in WA is constantly seeking new and innovative ways to make this information available to visitors. We are looking for a technology based solution that will provide a heritage interpretation experience to help replace the existing system.
