Plastic Challenge is a gamified app for use with Plastic Free July. Users are rewarded with reducing their plastic usage by a points system. Businesses can join together in a Corporate Challenge against other local businesses to see who can improve plastic habits the most.
Datasets have been used primarily to provide information directly to users and make comparisons with users change in habits.
People are increasingly aware of the problems with plastics and want to ‘do their bit’ but how do we increase engagement in Plastic Free July? Using data and IT-based solutions, how can we increase both geographical update and reach a wider demographic (particularly more men)?
