Project Description

The aim of this project is to create a web platform that will allow users to quickly and easily compare the available job vacancies and the average income for various jobs in regions throughout Australia. This includes features to show current trends in employment for different sectors as well as future predictions based on current trends.

The website will thus allow users to get a better understanding of the employment situation in their region and show them where their skills are required.

The data shown in our presentation has used Gold Coast data. However this could be applied to any region in Australia.

We believe that this will be a particularly useful tool for graduate students trying to find out where they can best use their degree and school finishers trying to identify employment opportunities in their region.

Furthermore, in the long term, this tool can help the government improve their resource management, by identifying areas where resources are required and where they are currently employed.

Data Story

The primary datasets proposed for this website are:
- ATO Taxation Statistics for Individuals
- Internet Vacancy Index data
- Australian Bureau of Statistics data
- Stocktake of Australian Innovation Precincts–June 2019
- Gold Coast Community profile data
- Spatial data from ABS i.e. Postal Areas Digital boundaries
Data from these datasets were analysed, graphed and visualised to provide the necessary statistics and features.
